Outlander prequel wins series renewal

The recommission comes weeks ahead of Series One premiering on Starz
Outlander: Blood of my Blood begins production on Series Two in Scotland this week (w/c 23 June), ahead of the show’s premiere on Starz in August.
Such early renewal news is unusual, but likely aided by the fact that the standalone prequel series has use of the sets and stages Wardpark Studios in Scotland where Outlander filmed for ten years.
The Cumbernauld facility was acquired by Hackman Capital Partners and partner Square Mile Capital Management in late 2021.
Matthew B. Roberts is showrunner and executive producer on Outlander: Blood of my Blood, with Ronald D Moore, Maril Davis and Jim Kohlberg also serving as executive producers. The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
Roberts said: “The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into ‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood’ has been extraordinary and we’re thrilled to continue these epic love stories in Season Two.”
“The world of ‘Outlander’ has captivated audiences with its sweeping storytelling and unforgettable characters. With ‘Blood of my Blood,’ we’ve expanded the universe in a way that honors the original, while charting bold new territory,” said Kathryn Busby, president of programming, Starz.
Outlander: Blood of my Blood follows the romance between Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine). The story’s timeline covers 18th century Scotland to the battlefields of the First World War.
The Starz renewal comes soon after the streamer announced another UK-based production, boxing drama Fightland from Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, due to film here in the autumn.
