Lacey Turner to star in BBC1 drama Our Girl
Lacey Turner (EastEnders, Bedlam, Switch) is star as Molly Dawes in Tony Grounds’ (Births, Marriages and Deaths) new single drama Our Girl, directed by David Drury (The Paradise) for BBC1. Produced by BBC Drama, Our Girl is the story of a South London girl who ends up as a soldier posted to Afghanistan.
Commenting, Tony Grounds said: “This is a film about a female combatant, but she is also a daughter and a sister. Every soldier is a citizen first and we explore their choices that lead them to an Army Training Camp and how ensuing months will change their lives.”
The 90-minute drama was commissioned for BBC1 by Ben Stephenson, Controller of BBC Drama Commissioning, and Danny Cohen, Controller of BBC1. The Executive Producer is Controller of BBC Drama Production John Yorke and the producer is Ken Horn. Our Girl will start filming on location in Hertfordshire this month.
