PGGB, Garden Studios to host third Sustainability Behind the Lens day

The event brings together industry professionals and eco-friendly suppliers
The Production Guild of Great Britain‘s (PGGB) Sustainability Committee has announced a third edition of Sustainability Behind the Lens, a free-to-attend open day for film and TV industry professionals.
The event is open to PGGB members and non-members alike, where screen-sector workers can meet and network with cutting-edge green technology suppliers, in association with Global Production Award-winning Garden Studios.
The full-day event will take place on Wednesday 11 June (11am – 4pm) at Garden Studios in London.
Sustainability Behind the Lens will see a range of eco-friendly suppliers demonstrate and discuss new technologies at the forefront of sustainability within the film and TV industry, as it moves towards the goal of cleaning up sets, reducing the impact of greenhouse gas emissions, and protecting the health of crews.
Companies already confirmed to participate include Onbio Ltd, Geopura Ltd, The Generator Project, Albert, CAMA Asset Store and many more.
PGGB’s Sustainability Committee is headed up by Amelia Price, whose aim to make UK production more sustainable and cost effective, was a key driver in creating the event.
She said: “We first established this event three years ago to give crew on the ground the opportunity to come and learn about new technology first hand. If we want our crews to adopt new ways of working, we need to support them and connect them with our suppliers so they can work in tandem, learning from each other and coming up with practical solutions.”
Garden Studios recently won the 2025 Global Production Award for Sustainability Initiative at the Cannes Film Festival, and has achieved B Corp certification and a ‘Very Good’ rating in the 2025 Albert Studio Sustainability Standard.
The studios’ head of sustainability, Julie Hoegh, commented: “From the outset, Garden Studios’ ambition has been to be the most sustainable sound stage campus in the UK. To get there, it is critical we work closely with incredible industry partners like the PGGB, who are instrumental in educating the industry – our clients – on the art of the possible.”
Last year’s event was attended by more than 300 PGGB members, business partners and industry colleagues, along with 20 eco-friendly suppliers.
The PGGB Sustainability Committee was established in 2023, serving as a central hub for agreements, development and advice on sustainable filmmaking initiatives across the film and TV landscape. Key resources include the Sustainable Production Toolkit, a regularly updated open-source set of documents initially created by NBCUniversal.

PGGB acting CEO, Michael Beavan, said: “From creating a sustainability committee three years ago to continuously finding ways to connect members and partners ever since, an absolute pillar for PGGB is to be a conduit for a more sustainable industry now and in the future.
“I am delighted that Sustainability Behind the Lens has become a firm focus in the film production calendar each year and we continue to grow this informative and free space for all those in film and TV who want to know about the latest developments from key services and suppliers.”
