Production sustainability in Wales to be highlighted at showcase

“Welsh production companies and freelancers are embracing new technologies and innovative new practices to accelerate the mission towards net zero.”
Production sustainability in Wales will be highlighted at a showcase hosted by The Production Guild of Great Britain’s (PGGB) Welsh Committee, Creative Wales, Media Cymru and Ffilm Cymru Wales.
The free-to-attend showcase is on 2 July at Great Point Studios, Cardiff, and has been born out of the PGGB’s recent Sustainability Behind the Lens days in London. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet, network and chat about how to become more sustainable.
So far, 24 exhibitors have been confirmed, including Facilities by ADF and Sunbelt Rentals, as well as Location One, Real SFX, Geo Pura, Location Solutions, Get Set hire and Infinite Renewables.
Edward Rastelli-Lewis, line producer and chair of the PGGB’s Welsh N&R Committee said: “We feel so lucky as the committee to be able to host such a great event and getting to work with so many local companies who all want the opportunity to showcase their sustainability practices and offer a chance to network in Wales”.
Joedi Langley, interim head of Creative Wales added: “I encourage representatives from the screen industry to attend this important industry event. The Screen New Deal Transformation Plan for Wales is putting our nation on the map when it comes to setting high standards for sustainable practices that can be implemented across the wider UK screen industry, but it’s important that we keep working together, building connections and sharing knowledge.”
Professor Justin Lewis, Media Cymru’s Co-Director said, “We’re very pleased to be part of the PGGB’s Wales Sustainability in Production event, highlighting how Wales is rising to the challenge to ensure that our film and TV industry becomes the most sustainable industry possible.
“Through a combination of the Screen New Deal Transformation Plan for Wales, Media Cymru’s funded interventions, Welsh production companies and freelancers are embracing new technologies and innovative new practices to accelerate the mission towards net zero.”
