It seems Brad Pitt is a certified Anglophile now, as he is about to shoot his third major film in the UK in as many years.
 

Fury is a major new epic war film from writer/director David Ayer. It centres on Wardaddy (Pitt), a battle-hardened army sergeant whose mission is to lead a five-man tank crew into Nazi Germany towards the end of the Second World War. Shia LaBeouf also stars.

The film – one of many Hollywood blockbusters heading for the UK – comes from producers John Lesher of Le Grisbi Productions and Bill Block of QED International, both based in LA. Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures (who will distribute in the US and some overseas territories) said of the project, “This is epic and authentic storytelling at its finest and we couldn’t be more excited to be in business with David Ayer and Brad Pitt on this incredible story of sacrifice and heroism.”

It seems like only yesterday that Pitt was in the UK filming The Counselor for Ridley Scott. The feature was shooting here this time last year, with a super-stellar cast headed by Michael Fassbender and with Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.

From the book by Cormac McCarthy, the film revolves around a lawyer who finds himself embroiled in the dangerous and murky world of drug dealing. If you can take your eyes off the main players when the film opens on 15 November, look out for locations including Skywood House, Denham, West Wycombe Park and various London landmarks.

And let’s not forget zombie feature World War Z, which opened here last month and was filmed in Blighty during much of 2011 with pick-ups and reshoots taking place later in 2012 in the UK and Budapest. Pitt also produced this one through his shingle, Plan B Entertainment.

It would be nice to surmise that Mr Pitt is drawn to filming in the UK by its attractive tax incentives, great studios and locations and its wide range of talented crew, technicians and service providers…
