The second run will once again star Eve Myles, Katherine Kelly, Clara Rugaard and Victoria Hamilton

The second series of Paramount+ original drama The Crow Girl begins production this week (w/c 3 November), once again based at Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios, with extensive location filming taking place in the city.

The three-month shoot is supported by Bristol Film Office; it is produced by Buccaneer Media. Eve Myles leads a returning cast including Katherine Kelly, Clara Rugaard and Victoria Hamilton.

The executive producers are Tony Wood for Buccaneer, screenwriter Milly Thomas, Niclas Salomonsson, Erik Axl Sund, Federico Ambrosini and Slash. Debbie Pisani produces; Charles Martin directs.

The new season, that picks up the morning after the events of Series One, was commissioned by Sebastian Cardwell, deputy chief content officer, UK, and Paul Testar, commissioning editor, for Paramount+ UK & Ireland.

Cardwell said at the time of the recommission news: “We’re delighted to be continuing our partnership with Buccaneer on The Crow Girl. The first season captivated audiences with its bold storytelling and standout performances, and we can’t wait to see where the team takes the story next”

The Crow Girl relocates the original story setting from Stockholm; executive producer Tony Wood said of the location choice, after filming Series One: “When replacing Stockholm, the home of The Crow Girl in the novel, Bristol was always such an obvious choice.

“Its maritime past, historical importance, strong local socio-political identity, and the brilliant aesthetic diversity all played brilliantly into our story. And shooting in the city was a delight. The largely local crew was exceptional, allowing us to produce a high-end drama on a pretty tight budget.”
