BBC Studios and Post Production opens new creative site
BBC Studios and Post Production (BBC S&PP) is to launch a standalone post-production facility on Charlotte Street, London.
Open from early January 2013, the new HD-based, fully tapeless facility will give BBC S&PP a central London launch-pad to offer full-service post-production facilities to its growing range of clients.
The facility, formerly home to Editworks, will be renovated throughout and additional cutting rooms will be built in the basement. Once renovations are complete, it will initially house nine Avid Media Composer offline suites, nine Avid Symphony Nitris DX finishing suites, an Avid Pro Tools 5.1 audio suite and voiceover booth and an Autodesk Smoke visual effects and grading system. The facility will be linked to BBC S&PP”s studios at BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios – and to BBC Television Centre until the company vacates the site in March 2013 – so that it can directly serve live studio productions that require inserts.
Anna Mallett, BBC Studios and Post Production”s CEO said “Our post production customers have always wanted us to have a presence in W1, so the move from Television Centre provided us with the perfect opportunity to bring our renowned services to this location. This move forms a key part of our future plans and we are looking forward to welcoming our customers to our new home.”
BBC Studios and Post Production has already signed three post-production projects for the new site – including Mrs Brown”s Boys and The Matt Lucas Awards.
