Criminal Record has just wrapped (w/e 20 June) a London shoot on Series 2 for Apple TV+.

The production took in many east London and central London locations during the 22-week shoot, with the production based at east London’s The Wharf Studios, where Apple TV+ has a foothold, having also filmed S2 of Hijack there.

The Wharf Studios was developed by Hackman Capital Partners and its affiliate The MBS Group; the 10-acre campus has 200,000 sq ft of creative space, featuring six, large-scale, custom-design sound stages, with ceiling heights up to 46 feet.

The Wharf Studios are close to another Hackman/MBS site, Eastbrook Studios in Dagenham, that officially opened earlier this year with 12 sound stages.

Criminal Record stars Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, who also exec produce alongside Elaine Collins , Chris Sussman and the show’s writer/creator Paul Rutman. It is produced by STV Studios and Tod Productions.

Series 2 sees DS June Lenker (Jumbo) on the scene when a political rally is attacked by a far-right group, resulting in the death of a young man. June’s best hope of solving the murder is to call upon DCI Daniel Hegarty (Capaldi), now in police intelligence.

Apple TV+’s UK footprint is hefty – with productions including Silo, Hijack, Slow Horses, Down Cemetery Road, Ted Lasso and Trying among those projects having filmed here and/or preparing to shoot their next season.

The streamer is currently in production in London on The Wanted Man with Hugh Laurie.
