C5 greenlights mystery thriller The Wives
Production is underway on a new C5 thriller, The Wives, starring Jo Joyner, Angela Griffin and Tamzin Outhwaite.
Gaumont is making the 6 x 60’ drama with production currently underway in Malta.
The domestic mystery follows one summer in the lives of four sister-in-law who make their regular escape to their Maltese holiday apartment. But this year, things turn out very differently…
The executive producers for Gaumont are Jess Connell and Alison Jackson with Margot Gavan Duffy producing.
The Wives was written and created by Helen Black with episodes by Ciara Conway and Jamie Jackson. The directors are Claire Tailyour and Paulette Randall.
Griffin said of the show: “What a dream to work on The Wives. With Tamzin Outhwaite and Jo Joyner on screen, and Helen Black, Claire Tailyour and Paulette Randall part of the creative force, the incredible female presence in front and behind the camera was a huge draw.
"The scripts are full of warmth, female friendship, humour, with a huge whodunnit in the middle… And on top of all of that it’s set in Malta. I feel really lucky to be a part of this project and to be playing Natasha, who has found herself carrying a secret she’s desperately trying to hide.”
Gaumont UK, run by Alison Jackson, is behind C5’s For Her Sins as well as Obsession and Locked In, both for Netflix.
