Second series of Screw to film next week at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall

ScrewThe second series of prison drama Screw is set to begin filming at BBC Studioworks’ Kelvin Hall in Glasgow next week (7 November).

Although the iconic edifice officially opened its doors in September this year to its first tenant, STV Studios’ shiny-floor quiz show Bridge of Lies, a three-storey prison set had previously been built in the adjacent part of the building to house the first series of Screw (also an STV Studios production) in 2021.

The development of Kelvin Hall, in Glasgow’s West End, was co-funded by the Scottish Government, through Screen Scotland and Glasgow City Council.

Covering a footprint of 10,500 sq. ft, the studio can accommodate both long-term residencies and spot bookings for a range of entertainment shows across multiple genres. The sound and lighting galleries are the largest that BBC Studioworks has built across its entire UK footprint.

Sustainability was intrinsic to the site's development: the studio was designed without dimmers to support LED and low energy lighting technology. The reduced heat generated by the low-energy lighting enabled the use of air-source heat pump technology for heating and cooling, and the ventilation plant uses heat recovery systems.
