Pact launches TV commissions app

PACT APPIndie TV producers' trade body Pact has launched a new app, connecting independent television production companies and TV commissioners.

Backed by the BBC, the free app allows you to search for information on more than 160 TV production companies and 190 TV commissioners.

TV commissioners can view sample content from indies, while production companies can view details about UK commissioners, from areas of interest to past credits. Both parties can message one another and the app also allows commissioners to post details about content they are looking for.

After this launch, Pact will starting working on phase two of the project, with the aim to include more international broadcasters.

John McVay, chief executive at Pact, said: "A major part of our work at Pact is to seek out extra opportunities for production companies, but this is a business venture which should benefit the wider television sector too."

"The BBC is pleased to have been able to support the development of this app. Good market intelligence is the lifeblood of successful development and benefits both sides ... We hope it will be a useful tool for broadcasters and suppliers alike in a fast changing industry," added Angela Chan, independent and diversity executive at the BBC.

To download the app, head over the iTunes App Store and search for TVCommissions.
