£32m skills boost for creative industries
It’s good news for the film, animation, high-end TV, games and VFX industries as they are set to receive a £32m investment from Creative Skillset to address skills gaps and shortages in growth sectors.
The Skills Investment Fund (SIF) will allow for new entrant training as well as the likes of bootcamps and apprenticeships, subsidised training schemes, short courses plus shadowing and mentoring programmes.
In addition to working with the five industry sectors receiving the funds, Creative Skillset will also work with new cross sector employer Challenge Fund, due to be launched later this year.
The investment is helped by the Treasury, matching every £1 invested by Creative Skillset, doubling the £16m fund already in place.
