Shaun Evans, Romola Garai film Betrayal in Manchester and Liverpool

Evans plays a mid-career M15 officer challenged by the rapidly-changing world of espionage
Shaun Evans and Romola Garai have started filming ITV thriller Betrayal in Liverpool and Manchester.
Cameras began rolling today, 30 June, on the four-part, espionage thriller from playwright and screenwriter David Eldridge. Julian Jarrold directs; Irma Inniss produces.
The series is executive produced by Mammoth’s founder and chief creative officer Damien Timmer, alongside David Eldridge, Evans, Jarrold and Tom Leggett. The show was developed by Rebecca Keane, Mammoth’s creative director and is produced by Mammoth Screen in association with Evans’ Navarino Pictures.
Betrayal follows John Hughes (Evans), a mid-career MI5 officer challenged by a rapidly-changing security landscape and his own personal demons.
When Evans is closely watched by his superiors, following a clandestine meeting with a potential British-Iranian informant, the strain takes its toll on his relationship with wife Claire (Garai) and his professional reputation.
Also filming in Liverpool at the moment is Dennis Kelly’s prison drama, Waiting for the Out, with a second series of This City is Ours also due to film in the city.
