Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

The much-anticipated adaptation of Susanna Clarke’s novel Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is now due to begin principal photography from late October in Leeds and Montreal.
Casting is still very much under wraps on the drama, which will comprise 7 x 60 episodes. The novel, which won the 2005 Hugo Award for best novel and was longlisted for the 2004 Man Booker Prize, is a mixture of alternative history and fantasy, set in 19th century England around the time of the Napoleonic Wars.
Peter Harness has adapted the novel for the small screen with Toby Haynes in place to direct.
The series is from Cuba Pictures and Feel Films and is made in association with Far Moor, Cité Amérique, Endemol Worldwide Distribution, BBC America, Space and Screen Yorkshire as part of BBC America’s Supernatural Saturday strand. It will air on BBC One here in the UK.
