BBC’s Nicolas Brown follows John Yorke’s dramatic exit
Just a week after senior drama exec John Yorke left the BBC to join Company Pictures, Nicolas Brown, the BBC”s director of UK drama production, is reported to be leaving the corporation as well. Brown, who is also heading for the indie sector, will join Sam Mendes” indie Neal Street Productions early next year.
Brown, who has been at the BBC since 2006, will be in charge of expanding the company”s television drama slate. He will join the board alongside Mendes, Pippa Harris and Caro Newling.
Neal Street made its mark with the BBC ratings hit Call the Midwife. Projects coming up include a new run of Call the Midwife and a series based on the Flavia de Luce mystery novels. As for Brown, his credits while at the corporation include EastEnders, Silent Witness, Luther, The Paradise, The Fades and Great Expectations.
