Garden Studios to support indie films in new co-prod initiative

The scheme aims to complete finance on films budgeted at £5-10m
Garden Studios’ parent company Arts Alliance has launched a new co-production initiative, aimed at supporting independent films shooting at the central London facility.
The scheme will target films in the £5-10m range with support from a combination of equity investment and a cashflow facility, thus helping to complete financing packages.
The news chimes with the implementation last year of the UK’s revised AVEC incentive, for films with budgets under £15m.
“We work very hard to be accessible to independent film makers, challenging them to embrace technology and to get more artistically out of budgets by delivering projects faster to create value for all”, said Thomas Hoegh, founder and CEO of Arts Alliance and Garden Studios.
“Personally, and through our companies, we are passionate about cinema and supporting production.”
Garden Studios is the only central London sound stage with a permanent VP stage, and has seen increasing interest from dramas utilising cutting-edge VP techniques to enhance efficiency and creative freedom, particularly for car shoots and other complex scenarios.
Established in 2021, Garden Studios recently opened four new sound stages, bringing the total to eight. The site now comprises 98,000 sq ft of stages, 90,000 sq ft of warehouse, 40,000 sq ft of production offices, and two unit base lots over 30,000 sq ft each.
The studio is a B Corp and albert-certified company, and was recently awarded a ‘Very Good’ rating in the latter’s Studio Certification for sustainability.
