Money Matters survey – Film and TV Charity calls for respondents

The Film and TV Charity has launched the second iteration of Money Matters, its landmark financial-resilience research, and is calling for as many industry professionals as possible to take part.
From unpredictable income and gender and racial pay gaps to rising worklessness, financial insecurity continues to affect thousands of behind-the-scenes professionals across the UK screen sector.
The Money Matters survey, first held in 2023, provides insight into the sector’s evolving economic landscape, and aims to inform both industry and government responses.
For the second full-scale survey, the charity is focusing on critical financial issues, such as financial resilience, future confidence, pensions, savings, debt, and the strain of freelance vs. full-time work.
The charity wants to hear from as many respondents as possible across all ranks and roles behind the camera.
Mark Tweddle, research and insight manager at the charity, said “The first Money Matters survey gave us a baseline ‒ now we need to understand the trend. We know that many in the industry have faced severe pressures in recent years, but it is only by hearing about peoples lived experiences that can we move from assumptions to evidence. That insight is vital if we are to advocate for a fairer, more sustainable industry.”
The survey is fully anonymous* and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. The charity is especially keen to hear from individuals in underrepresented groups across the screen industry – including those based outside London and the south, talent from the Black and Global Majority, professionals working in exhibition, and those in full-time employment.
The survey will run until the end of October, click here to take part.
