Caro Lakos has taken up a new role as film manager at Film Barking and Dagenham, following several years at 3 Mills Studios.

Her remit will largely be to grow and nurture production activity in the east London borough, that includes the large, newly-opened Eastbrook Studios and its sister site The Wharf Studios.

Lakos, who joins from 3 Mills as client and sales manager. is an active member of the TV Access Project and a member of the British Screen Forum Future Leaders initiative. She said of the new role: “I am excited to continue championing positive change in the film and television sector whilst building Barking and Dagenham’s reputation as one of London’s most vibrant and film-friendly boroughs.”

Cllr Dominic Twomey, leader of Barking and Dagenham, added: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Caro Lakos, who has a wealth of film industry experience and know how, as the new Film Manager for Barking and Dagenham. I can’t wait to see her immense talents brought to our borough, which is home to some of the country’s biggest studios and has hosted huge Hollywood blockbusters.

“While attracting more large productions to B&D will be a big part of her role, just as importantly she will be making sure that our residents get the chance to play their part in the borough’s burgeoning film industry.”

Film Barking and Dagenham was set up in 2014 to support the growth of the east London production sector. Recent, high-profile projects to have filmed in the area include Criminal Record; Heads of State; Deep Cover; Gangs of London and Red Eye.
