UK unscripted talent sought by Australian prodco

Bondi VetMelbourne-based production company, The WFTN Group, has launched a recruitment drive among the UK’s unscripted production talent.

The idea of the drive is to assist the current skills shortage in Australia, to manage the uplift in the company’s business, and to offer roles to those affected by the current downturn in unscripted production in the UK.

WFTN was founded in 2003, and has become one of the country’s best-known unscripted production outfits, selling home-grown programmes such as the long-running Bondi Vet (pictured) and Emergency around the world. This year it will produce more than 80 episodes of content.

The organisation now also encompasses distribution, (Fred Media), branded content (WTFN BE), talent management (Empire Talent) and a recently launched digital content and channel management business (Radar MCN).

WTFN CEO Daryl Talbot said: “Returnable series are the lifeblood of independent production companies. Getting a show commissioned is always a challenge, but the bigger challenge is producing a quality program that connects with viewers, performs for the network, and returns year after year.

“Bondi Vet is in its twelfth series, and we have two other shows that have run for 8 and 11 series respectively. Returning series are a major KPI for this business.”

WTFN has identified around 20 live roles so far, and is looking for experienced editors, producers, showrunners, post producers, field producers and production managers. Wes Crook, WTFN’s COO, is travelling to the UK next week (w/c 12 June) to meet with potential candidates, with a follow-up trip  planned for July.

WFTN will subsidise travel and accommodation costs and assist in obtaining the necessary work permits. Anyone interested in applying should send a CV and covering email to: jobsdownunder@wtfn.com.au
