Nicola Walker films Annika in Scotland

Filming is underway in Scotland on Annika, a new Alibi crime series based on the Radio 4 drama about DI Annika Strandhed.

Nicola Walker plays Strandhed, the witty and enigmatic head of a new, specialist Marine Homicide Unit (MHU).

The cast includes Jamie Sives, Katie Leung and Ukweli Roach, who play fellow members of the team tasked with investigating the unexplained murders that wash up in the waterways of Scotland.

Black Camel Pictures is making the 6 x 60 for Alibi, with Philip John and Fiona Walton directing. Annika is exec produced by Arabella Page Croft and Kieran Parker for Black Camel, with funding support from The National Lottery through Screen Scotland. The lead writer is Nick Walker, who is joined in the writer”s room with emerging scribes Frances Poet and Lucia Haynes.

Page Croft said of the commission: “We are absolutely thrilled to bring Nick Walker”s radio show Annika to life as a new marine homicide crime drama series. The show feels right at home in the cinematic landscape of Scotland”s dramatic lochs, rivers and seascapes.”

Annika is the fourth UKTV Original for Alibi, following including The Diplomat, from World Productions, the second series of Traces, from Red Production Company, and We Hunt Together, produced by BBC Studios.
