PI: Exclusives for 2018 – Part 2

Remi Weekes Production Intelligence subscribers know that we are often the first to confirm new feature films and TV projects that are in the pipeline.

We recently brought you the first part of our round-up of 2018’s crop of bite-sized news breaks, providing exclusive details verified first-hand for our subscribers; here we look at some of the spring highlights of ‘PI firsts’.

March was a big month for exclusive film news. We led off with news of director Remi Weekes’ feature debut His House. The haunted house horror is also written by Weekes and began filming in London in late May.

PI then broke the news that two more major Hollywood features were heading to shoot in the UK.
We were the first to list the UK-based production of The Six Billion Dollar Man and followed its development closely until the project was shut down by the studio in the spring.

Chris HemsworthAlso in March came the news that Sony’s Men in Black spinoff film was going to be based here, followed by news of the studio and UK unit production manager.

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson star in the feature that is directed by F Gary Gray from a screenplay by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

Ridley Scott Ridley Scott’s latest film as producer is Lyrebird, a feature about the infamous Dutch art painter and forger Hans van Meergeren.

PI was first to cover the film as it set up to shoot in the UK and the Netherlands back in April, also listing the HoDs, studio and dates.

Around this time we published exclusive news that suspense thriller The Good Liar, starring Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen, would film in the UK.

Helen Mirren Adapted from Nicholas Searle’s novel about an ageing conman and his target, the film wrapped in late June after a nine-week shoot in London and Berlin with Bill Condon at the helm.

A fifth series of Scottish detective drama Shetland was confirmed exclusively to PI subscribers later in April – we have since updated with the name of the producer and will return with HoDs.

In May we confirmed the UK studio and HoDs on Come Away, a new feature starring Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo.

David OyelowoThe film is an origins story about Peter Pan and Alice of Alice in Wonderland and comes from UK-based Fred Films. Shooting starts in late July.
