BT Vision teams up with British Museum for VOD Channel

BT has launched a new video on demand channel on BT Vision that is dedicated exclusively to the world-famous British Museum.

The VOD channel will be available to all BT TV customers at no extra charge regardless of which package they are on. It will show films produced by the British Museum on a vast range of subjects, including Journeys of Faith, Great Leaders, Stories of the World, Contemporary Artists and Shakespeare. There will also be lectures and short films available linked to current exhibitions. The new channel is a first for the Museum. Although it shares video content through its own web site, a dedicated channel on You Tube and social media, this is its first on demand TV channel. It is also the first time BT Vision has offered viewers this type of channel.

Marc Watson, CEO, BT Vision, said: “It is a privilege to be a partner of the British Museum and bring these programmes to BT TV viewers. Our customers can visit the museum without leaving their armchairs and see stories of humanity, from civilisations which disappeared thousands of years ago to the world we live in today.”

Joanna Mackle, director of Public Engagement at the British Museum, added: “This is a really exciting collaboration. BT Vision is a wonderful way to widen access to some fascinating documentaries from the British Museum. We are keen to share our content freely and widely to allow as many people as possible access to the collections and the wonderful stories it tells. Viewers will be able to stay up to the minute with current programmes by watching lectures and films linked to our popular exhibitions.”
