UK shoot begins on The Thursday Murder Club for Netflix
Principal photography begins today, 27 June, on the big-screen adaptation of Richard Osman’s best-selling novel, The Thursday Murder Club.
Osman confirmed the start on his X (formerly Twitter) account, saying “First day of filming for the Thursday Murder Club film today. Good luck to cast and crew. Photos when I have them!”
The Thursday Murder Club is produced as part of Netflix and Amblin’s film partnership; Chris Columbus directs while Jennifer Todd produces. The executive producers are Holly Bario, Jeb Brody and Eleanor Columbus.
Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie star, joined by a supporting cast including (acc to Deadline) David Tennant, Daniel Mays, Naomi Ackie, Jonathan Pryce and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
The story follows a group of friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case. Mirren will play ex-spy Elizabeth, Imrie plays Joyce, Kingsley is ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim and Brosnan portrays Ron.
This is the latest film to be produced as part of Netflix and Amblin’s film partnership, which also includes the upcoming Carry-On starring Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton.
