The Mill Improves Its Colour Grading Mobile App

VFX studio The Mill has unveiled a new update to its Mill Colour app – a photo-grading application for the iPhone.

According to the Mill, Mill Colour 1.2 “allows users to alter any image with the precision and subtlety of professionals and has been specifically developed by The Mill’;s Digital team alongside its team of colourists based on their experience in commercials, film and TV”.

In a nutshell, the app emulates grading techniques used in a high-end digital suite by allowing you to adapt and refine the source image to achieve the look and feel you want. The latest updates to the app include an improved maximum editable resolution for more recent hardware so users can edit photos taken on the latest iPhone; an improved pan and zoom facility allowing for a closer image inspection, enabling users to refine their pictures with greater precision; an improved image processing system to make grading and saving photos quicker.

Andy Orrick, The Mill’;s Digital Development Director said: “The updates enable users of the latest Apple devices and iOS to enjoy the app. New features such as improved image processing and improved compression of saved images have also been added, which we hope will improve the user experience”. Mill Colour was recently included in FWA, The App and Mobile Case Study Book, which showcases some of the best apps.
