The film is the sixth feature the pair have collaborated on and is based on the book by JJ Connolly

Long-time collaborators Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham are set to work together on Viva La Madness, due to shoot in the UK next year.

The project is based on JJ Connolly’s second novel, following Layer Cake (adapted into a film in 2004; Matthew Vaughn’s directorial feature debut), but it is a standalone, original feature and not a sequel in any way of Connolly’s work.

The project was initiated and developed by Statham and Thomas Benski, who are producing via Punch Palace Productions and Lumina Studios, alongside Ritchie’s Toff Guy Films. Production begins in London in January 2026.

Ritchie is calling the shots from his own screenplay; he also produces alongside Statham for Punch Palace, Thomas Benski for Lumina Studios, Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson for Toff Guy Films, and John Friedberg for Black Bear.

Statham was the only cast member revealed at the time of writing; Black Bear is also handling international sales on the film.

Viva La Madness is the sixth film Ritchie and Statham have teamed up on, starting with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Both men are currently busy working in the UK – Ritchie has recently been filming Series Two of The Gentlemen for Netflix, while Statham is filming The Beekeeper 2 at Shepperton Studios.
