Filming is underway in Belfast on Doing Money, a feature-length single drama for BBC Two.

The fact-based piece explores slavery in modern Britain as it follows Ana, a young Romanian woman who is snatched from a London street and trafficked to Ireland where she is used as a sex slave in a series of brothels.

Renegade Pictures – better known for factual and entertainment programmes such as Don”t Tell the Bride – is making the drama with Lynsey Miller directing from a script by Gwyneth Hughes. Mike Dormer produces.

Hughes said of the project when it was first announced: “I’ve been deeply affected by listening to Ana’s unforgettable story. I’ve learned a lot from her – a lot I wish I didn’t know – about the lives of women bought and sold into modern slavery.

“But I’ve also been moved by her courage, her humour and her will to survive. She is a true heroine.”
