UK IN FOCUS 2016
The iconic Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge spanning the Firth of Forth between the
picturesque villages of North and South Queensferry. Completed in 1890, after six years of
construction, the bridge is just under two-and-a-half miles long and achieved Unesco World
Heritage status in 2015. Now owned and operated by Network Rail, the bridge, which is located
just nine miles west of Edinburgh city centre, is considered one of the iconic symbols of Scotland.
It will also be familiar to fans of the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller
The 39 Steps
