Rankin and Sky Arts hunt for photographers
World-renowned photographer Rankin is teaming with Sky Arts in a new project to mark the channel’s new status as free-to-air.
Rankin’s 2020 is a search to find the best amateur and professional photographers, using cameras and smartphones. The photo can be taken specifically for the project, or can be from a back catalogue, but it must be a representation of their year in 2020.
Open to everyone, the categories are Family, Fun, Self, Beauty, Empathy, and Nature. More information can be found here www.2020rankin.com.
Rankin said: “Photography is my life and passion and I truly believe it has the power to reveal and connect. Now we all have cameras in our pockets, I think it’s time to use them. Rankin’s 2020 is an open call to anybody who thinks they can take a great picture.
“It doesn’t matter whether you’ve never taken a photograph before or you’re a professional, I want to see your view of our world. Together we can document this crazy year and make something positive out of it.”
The 6 x 30 Sky Original will air on Sky Arts this September, when the channel becomes free to view. Each episode will focus on one of the categories and celebrities will help select the best submissions.
Rankin’s 2020 is produced by NPL Media; executive producer is Nat Low and series director and producer is Marco De Luca.
