Kidman and Fiennes prepare for UK filming

Ralph Fiennes

Filming begins in Suffolk and the home counties next week on The Dig, starring Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes.

The period feature centres on the hugely significant archaeological excavation at Sutton Hoo in Suffolk in the late 1930s.

Moira Buffini has written the screenplay, based on John Preston’s novel about the important discoveries made at the site and the characters involved in the reveal.

Filming will run for around eight weeks; Simon Stone directs with Gabrielle Tana of New York-based Magnolia Mae producing.

Fiennes has recently been filming his role of M in Bond 25 while Kidman has been working on The Undoing, a psychological thriller for HBO co-starring Hugh Grant, which she also executive produces for her company Blossom Films.
