Fleabag Series 2 eyeing summer filming
A second series of acclaimed BBC comedy drama Fleabag will shoot this summer with writer and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
The first series was adapted from an original stage play by Waller-Bridge and follows the turbulent life of a young woman struggling with dysfunctional relatives and a rocky love life as she copes with the loss of her best friend.
The second series is for both the BBC and Amazon, and will go into prep shortly.
PI subscribers can follow Fleabag Series 2 now for updates on key crew and specific filming dates in the coming weeks.
“Fleabag signalled the arrival of a hugely distinctive writer with the mesmerising performing talent to match,” said Shane Allen, the BBC’s controller of comedy, when the second series commission was first announced.
“Phoebe’s career has shot up like a firework display in the last year and the show has been rightly hailed as a modern classic. It’ll be thrilling to see where she takes the character in the next series.”
Since finding success with Fleabag, Waller-Bridge has been showrunner on the acclaimed assassin drama Killing Eve and also co-starred in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
