ITVFilming has started in the Lake District and Ireland on a second series of ITV drama Innocent, starring Katherine Kelly as a woman accused of murdering one of her pupils.

The 4 x 60 from TXTV is once again written by Chris Lang and Matt Arlidge, who also executive produce with producer Jeremy Gwilt. Tracey Larcombe directs.

Kelly plays Sally Wright, who is convicted of the murder of Matty Wright, a pupil in whom she had taken a special interest.

The actor, who stars alongside Jeremy Bamber, Priyanga Burford, Shaun Dooley and Lucy Black, said of the project: "I’m thrilled to be working on this complex and thrilling drama by Matt Arlidge and Chris Lang. I look forward to bringing the mix of Sally’s fragility and quiet strength to life.”

The production team and cast are adhering to the industry-wide guidelines on Covid-19 safety about how small groups of actors can interact while less than two metres apart. Measures, which will be monitored by Covid supervisors on set, include regular testing of cast and crew, temperature-checking, social distancing by crew, hand-sanitisation stations, and full PPE for make-up artists.
