Chloe begins Bristol filming
Filming is due to get underway in Bristol this week on Chloe, a 6 x 60 drama for BBC One.
Chloe marks the first original TV series commission for writer Alice Seabright; her previous credits include directing two episodes of Sex Education Series 2 and writing for Series 3, as well as many short films.
Tally Garner’s production company Mam Tor is making Chloe, which is described as a thriller “exploring obsession, identity, grief, and truth.”
The story centres on Becky, who thinks Chloe has the perfect life. Years after Chloe abandoned her when they were teenagers, Becky still obsesses about Chloe's life, watching her picture-perfect social media. But when Chloe dies suddenly, Becky is driven by a need to find out more, as she takes on a new identity and tries to become part of the lives of Chloe’s friends.
The series stars Erin Doherty, Billy Howle, Pippa Bennett-Warner and Jack Farthing.
Garner said: “Alice is an exceptionally unique talent. She has built these characters from the ground up and we love them all so much. To see them come to life, played by such a phenomenally talented cast is beyond exciting. They are all amazing. Huge thanks to Ben Irving and Piers Wenger at the BBC, and to Cathy Payne and Simon Cox at Banijay Rights, who have been steadfast partners right from the start, and to the team at Amazon Studios for loving ‘Chloe’ too, and taking her global. It’s going to be an addictive, emotional rollercoaster of a show.”
Seabright added: : “Becky is a complex, courageous heroine and there is no one better to play her than Erin. All these characters have been a dream to write, and it now feels like they’ve found their soulmates in our amazing cast. I can’t wait to start bringing the show to life with them, and with our wonderful crew."
