C4 clarifies creative hub compositions
Channel 4 has clarified details of the programme departments that will have staff based at its Leeds headquarters, and how its creative hubs will operate at their Bristol and Glasgow locations.
The Leeds headquarters will be the base for C4’s managing director for C4 nations and regions, and commissioning departments will include Comedy, Daytime, Drama, Entertainment & Live Events, E4, Factual, Features & Formats, and Sport.
Other departments to be based at the headquarters will include members of C4’s On-Screen Talent and Creative Diversity teams, along with the network’s Digital Creative Unit, which is set to focus on young-audience content.
The Bristol creative hub is yet to have its specific location in the city confirmed but the branch will include commissioning departments for Drama, Factual, Factual Entertainment, Formats & Features, and also Creative Diversity. The hub will particularly support content focussed on south-west England, the Midlands and Wales.
Glasgow’s hub will be based at the city’s Garment Factory building and will focus on Scotland and Northern Ireland, with commissioning departments to include Entertainment & Live Events, Factual, Factual Entertainment, Formats & Features, and News & Current Affairs, alongside the Nations & Regions Creative Diversity team.
The channel’s new regional bases are an integral part of C4’s plan to increase regional programming to 50% of main channel commissions by 2023.
