Such Brave GirlsProduction is underway on new BBC Three comedy Such Brave Girls, from writer/actor Kat Sadler and Various Artists Ltd in association with A24.

The six-part series explores the chaos of love and life, and centres on Josie (Sadler) and her sister Billie (played by her real-life sister Lizzie Davidson) and their mum (Louise Brealey) as they try to claw their way towards a better life.

Sadler said: “Ultimately the show is a family sitcom about trauma, but it’s more about us being narcissistic losers who are pathetically obsessed with what people think about us.”

Phil Clarke, executive producer, VAL, added: “Completely original, dark, and incredibly funny are the words I'd use to describe Kat Sadler's writing. Such Brave Girls is a family sitcom, but unlike any sitcom you've seen before. It's brave, truthful and contemporary. New narrative comedy writing for TV at its absolute best.”

The series was commissioned by Jon Petrie, director of BBC Comedy and Fiona Campbell, controller of BBC Three. The executive producers are Sadler, Clarke, Jack Bayles and Helen Williams for Various Artists Ltd in association with A24. The director is Simon Bird and the producer is Catherine Gosling Fuller. The commissioning editor for the BBC is Gregor Sharp.
