Production spend in Kent topped £10m in 2022

Figures from the Kent Film Office have shown that more than £10m was spent on film and TV production in the county last year.

According to local news outlet Kent Online, Kent County Council film officer Gabrielle Lindemann said of the revenue: “This has been most welcome during a year when businesses are still recovering from Covid.

“It has also put Kent firmly on the map as a first-class filming destination and we are continually grateful that the residents and businesses in Kent are so welcoming to productions wishing to film here.”

Some of the high-profile productions to have shot in Kent in 2022 (as confirmed by Kent Online, Production Intelligence and the Kent Film Office) include Sam Mendes’ Empire of Light, which filmed in Margate from late February; Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which used Chatham Dockyard; The Great Escaper, starring Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson, that shot at the Port of Dover; Luther the movie (also Port of Dover);  Kraven the Hunter (Dover Citadel) and Jason Statham’s action thriller The Beekeeper (Kingsferry Bridge).
