C4 orders two home makeover shows
Channel 4 has greenlit two new home makeover shows: Worst House on the Steet, from South Shore and The Great Home Transformation from BBC Studios.
Worst House on the Street is co-produced with the Motion Content Group as a 6 x 60 and will be presented by brother and sister property developers Scarlette and Stuart Douglas.
The aim will be to use creative expertise to help families transform run-down houses into dream homes without blowing the bank. At the end of the project they’ll reveal how much their changes have increased the value of the property by.
The Douglas siblings said: “Over many years, we have honed the skill of redeveloping properties whilst extracting the most value from the finances available. As brother and sister, our candid and honest relationship has helped us refine our process to achieve the best results. Together we have redesigned and renovated numerous properties, transforming them from uninspiring bricks and mortar to desirable and profitable homes.”
Produced out of South Shore’s Cardiff production office, head of South Shore Wales Simon Kerfoot said “Stuart and Scarlette have got some incredible tips, tricks and hacks up their sleeves that will guarantee our thrifty home owners pull off renovations far in excess of their budgets or expectations.”
The executive producers for South Shore are Kerfoot, Melanie Leach, Andrew MacKenzie with Martin Oxley as executive producer for Motion. Claire Edwards is series producer.
The second makeover show being lined up is The Great Home Transformation, presented by Nick Grimshaw and Emma Willis, who will set about transforming family homes across the country in just three days with the help of one life-changing truck.
Inside the truck is an immersive mobile moodboard where the family will experience a bespoke vision for a cleverly designed new family home, with zero structural changes required, based simply on the family’s activities and needs.
The six-part series is from BBC Studios in partnership with IKEA.
Adeline Ramage Rooney, creative director, BBC Studios Factual Entertainment, said: “We’re thrilled to be producing such a refreshing and innovative new home transformation format for Channel 4 with support from IKEA. This is the latest Factual Entertainment show to come out of BBC Studios Glasgow hub and it also extends our successful run of content made in the ad-funded production space.”
The Great Home Transformation is a BBC Studios production in partnership with IKEA. The executive producers for BBC Studios are Rooney and Paul Murray.
