Amazon’s Good Omens 2 begins Scottish shoot
Filming is underway in Scotland on the second series of Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen.
The Amazon Studios/BBC Studios co-production is based on the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and is directed by Douglas Mackinnon, who was instrumental in steering the second series to Scotland.
The 6 x 60 drama shoots until mid-March, with Tennant and Sheen reprising their roles as the demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale respectively. Gaiman continues as executive producer and will co-showrun along with Mackinnon, who also exec produces.
Rob Wilkins, John Finnemore and BBC Studios Productions’ head of comedy Josh Cole also executive produce, with Finnemore serving as co-writer alongside Gaiman.
Mackinnon said at the time of the re-commission news: “Taking Good Omens to my home country of Scotland to film a second season is an exciting dream come true for me. And with Michael Sheen and David Tennant returning as Aziraphale and Crowley, we really have an angel and a demon on our side.”
Scotland is firmly establishing its reputation as an international production hub; its ability to host major projects on location has been further enhanced by the opening of FirstStage Studios in Leith, now hosting another Neil Gaiman drama, Anansi Boys, due to film soon.
