Pointless recommissioned for bumper run

Pointless BBC One’s hit daytime quiz show Pointless has been recommissioned for a bumper run of 227 episodes.

The new tranche comprises three series (165 episodes) of Pointless and two series (62 episodes) of Pointless Celebrities. Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman remain in the presenters’ chairs.

Remarkable TV makes the show; the company’s creative director Tamara Gilder said: “This mammoth commission is fantastic news and we’re really pleased that the BBC have asked us to make even more series of Pointless.

“Audiences continue to love the show and we can’t wait to get cracking on making more.”

Alex McLeod, commissioning editor BBC Daytime, added: “I’m delighted to offer this bumper commission to loyal fans. More Pointless? What’s not to love?”

The executive producers for Remarkable are Tamara Gilder and Richard Hague.

It is not clear whether the show will return with a studio audience, although it is now permitted – if following safety guidelines - as part of the most recent easing of lockdown restrictions at the weekend.

Pointless is recorded at Elstree Studios, at George Lucas Stage 8.
