A new drama series based on John Marrs’ novel The One is gearing up for an October shoot.

Howard Overman has adapted the book as a 10 x 60 that comes from Urban Myth Films for delivery to Netflix.

Filming will take place around Cardiff, Newport and Bristol.

The One is set in a near-future world where scientists can carry out a simple DNA test to enable everybody to find their one perfect partner.

Urban Myth Films was founded in 2013 by Overman, Johnny Caps and Julian Murphy. Its first commission was Atlantis, which was followed by Crazyhead, War of the Worlds and A Confession.

Netflix has several major series currently in production in the UK, including Bridgerton, Behind Her Eyes, Cursed and the fourth series of The Crown.

The streaming giant recently announced that it had struck a deal to establish a permanent production base at Shepperton Studios.
