Iannucci sci-fi Avenue 5 starts filming
Armando Iannucci’s new HBO production Avenue 5 has started filming in the UK.
The TV comedy is reportedly a pilot that takes place between story settings on Earth and in space. Hugh Laurie is among a star cast that includes Rebecca Front, Zach Woods and Suzy Nakamura.
Iannuci created the new comedy and is also writer and executive producer.

Iannucci has been best known in recent years for creating the long-running HBO satirical comedy series Veep, set in the office of a fictional vice president of the United States. The show stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who has won multiple Emmy awards for the role.
Since returning to the UK, Iannucci has co-written and directed satirical feature The Death of Stalin and is in post-production on Dickens adaptation The Personal History of David Copperfield.
Iannucci was nominated for an Oscar in 2010 as part of the writing team for In the Loop.
