Four Weddings TV comedy films in London

A new US TV drama inspired by the 1994 rom-com Four Weddings and a Funeral is gearing up to film in London next month.

Going by the same name as the film, which was written by Richard Curtis and directed by Mike Newell, the series has been created and written by Mindy Kaling, best known for TV series The Mindy Project.

Four Weddings and a Funeral is from MGM in association with Universal and is for delivery to Hulu.

It will film largely in London, where much of the action is set, and will star Jessica Williams (pictured) as a communications director based in New York who goes to London to attend a wedding. She ends up staying for longer than she first intended and, while meeting up with old friends, finds herself at the centre of their various personal crises. The cast includes Rebecca Rittenhouse, Nikesh Patel and John Reynolds.

Four Weddings and a Funeral is one of several major new dramas currently in pre-production in the UK – others include The Capture, Gangs of London and The Trial of Christine Keeler.
