Batman prequel series sets up UK shoot

London Embankment Pennyworth, a new US drama set in the Batman universe, is in early pre-production in the UK

The show centres on Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth, and explores the former special forces officer’s early years in London and the time during which he worked for Bruce Wayne’s father.

The new series comes from Warner Horizon Television, producer of existing hit prequel series Gotham, which is also part of the Batman world and follows the early career of eventual Gotham police commissioner James Gordon.

Gotham creator Bruno Heller has also developed Pennyworth alongside Danny Cannon; the pair also executive produce.

Production Intelligence subscribers can log in for details on Pennyworth including the studio, producer, production designer, casting directors and production co-ordinator.

Warner Horizon is also utilising UK crew, a studio and locations for the second series of Krypton, currently in pre-production at Belfast Harbour Studios. Filming is due to get underway in October on Krypton 2; PI subscribers can log in for details on a crew call that runs until 31 August 2018.
