Eddie Redmayne films in the UK for Amazon
Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are preparing to star in Amazon Studios’ and Mandeville Films’ The Aeronauts, a period feature currently gearing up to start filming in late July.
The film is based on the real events of 1862 when scientist James Glaisher attempted to fly higher in an open balloon than anyone had before accompanied by his co-pilot.
Mandeville’s Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman produce with Tom Harper directing from Jack Thorne’s screenplay. Filming will take place in and around London.
Harper is also lined up to direct and produce a TV adaptation of Amor Towles’ best-selling novel A Gentleman in Moscow, starring and co-produced by Kenneth Branagh.
Prolific writer Thorne has several projects in the pipeline, including an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comic book series The Sandman and an eight-part musical drama from Netflix, The Eddy, that will film in Paris and be shot in French, English and Arabic.
