London's Ingenious Media launches TV fund
Major creative sector investor Ingenious Media has launched a £100m venture capital fund to aid burgeoning independent production companies in the UK.
The Vision fund is intended to help small production companies to access funding while enabling them to retain their independence, according to a Broadcast report.
Ingenious has already funded around 140 TV shows – including Marcella (pictured), Doctor Foster and Teletubbies – and is on course to support up to 20 this year.
“Producers are responding to the fact that Ingenious offers a way of maintaining independence and flexibility so they can choose the right partners for the right projects on a case-by-case basis, and ultimately maintain their ownership and independence,” said Will Harrison, managing director of Ingenious, in comments to Broadcast.
Ingenious has plans to get involved with a diverse selection of productions ranging from drama to non-scripted entertainment and children’s shows, as the company targets broad IP acquisitions.
