UK locations in the spotlight

Colin FirthFilming begins this week around the UK on several productions including a new comedy drama from Netflix. 

Sex Education comes from Eleven Film and tells the story of Otis Thompson, a socially awkward high-school virgin who lives with his sex-therapist mother.

Laurie Nunn has written the coming-of-age comedy drama with Ben Taylor (a veteran of Channel 4 comedy Catastrophe) set to direct.

Taylor also executive produces alongside Eleven Film’s Joel Wilson and Jamie Campbell. 

Filming takes place on location in south Wales – PI subscribers can log in for key crew details. 

The second series of Agatha Raisin begins principal photography this week. Company Pictures and Free@Last TV are making the comedy drama with Ashley Jensen reprising her role as the titular ‘tec.

The 6 x 45 series for Acorn TV films for three months in the Cotswolds.

Taking in several UK locations including Cardiff, London, Suffolk, Norfolk and Liverpool, is the next film from director Danny Boyle.

With a screenplay by Richard Curtis, the music-themed comedy is currently untitled and reportedly stars Himesh Patel, Lily James and Kate McKinnon. 

Also underway this week is The Secret Garden, a new feature adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic children’s book. Colin Firth and Julie Walters are among the cast of the film that comes from Heyday Films and StudioCanal, with Marc Munden in the director’s chair. 

The production office is based at a major south-east studio with filming locations to be confirmed.
