The Spanish Princess in pre-production
Following the recent announcement that Starz has greenlit historical drama The Spanish Princess, we can now confirm that the project is in pre-production at a UK studio for New Pictures and Playground.
As with The White Queen and The White Princess (pictured), the drama is based on the novels by Philippa Gregory, this time drawn from The Constant Princess and The King’s Curse.
It centres on Catherine of Aragon as she considers new ways to claim the English throne when her husband, the Prince of Wales, dies unexpectedly.
Production Intelligence subscribers can log in for details on the shoot dates, studio and a comprehensive round-up of HoDs.
Writers Emma Frost and Matthew Graham are serving as showrunners; they also executive produce alongside Playground’s Colin Callender and Scott Huff, and New Pictures’ Charlie Pattinson and Charlie Hampton.
