Murder on the Orient Express starts filming

Johnny Depp Principal photography is now underway in the UK on Kenneth Branagh’s star-studded big-screen adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express

The film is largely studio-based – we first listed the facility on Production Intelligence in June – with some filming locations still to be confirmed.

Branagh directs and stars as moustachioed Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot joining a host of A-listers including Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Leslie Odom Jr, Michael Pena, Derek Jacobi, Daisy Ridley, Josh Gad, Tom Bateman and Lucy Boynton.

The screenplay is by Michael Green; producers include Branagh, Ridley Scott and Simon Kinberg.

The film is one of many Hollywood projects setting up for production in the UK – others lining up for a 2017 shoot include Mary Poppins Returns, Tim Burton’s Dumbo, Tomb Raider and M: I 6 - Mission Impossible to name but a few.
