Han Solo film in pre-production in the UK
Lucasfilm’s untitled Han Solo film is in early pre-production in the UK readying for a January shoot.
With reshoots on Rogue One having recently wrapped, the production team on the Han Solo project is currently bedding in at a UK studio – details will be on Production Intelligence from 6 August along with the name of the UPM.
Lego Movie supremos Phil Lord and Christopher Miller direct from a screenplay by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan. The film centres on a young Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich and was described last year by Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger as an “origin story about Han Solo and Chewie.” It has a release date of 25 May 2018.
Subscribers to Production Intelligence should follow the project as we will be returning with more news on key hires over the coming months. Non-subscribers can click here for a free online demo.
As well as the UK, Rogue One took in various locations around the world, including Iceland, Jordan and the Maldives. We first announced the reshoots in May, and around a month later the director, Gareth Edwards, told Entertainment Weekly: “I mean it was always part of the plan to do reshoots.
“We always knew we were coming back somewhere to do stuff. We just didn’t know what it would be until we started sculpting the film in the edit.”
