Filming set for Spielberg’s Ready Player One
Filming dates have now been set for Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, with a 13-week shoot due to start towards the end of June.
The exact start date for principal photography can be found on our subscription site Production Intelligence, which also has details of the studio and crucial UK hires including the UPM, production co-ordinator and casting director.
We first listed the film back in November when we confirmed that Spielberg was bringing the major movie to the UK. It is an adaptation of the award-winning dystopian novel by Ernest Cline set in 2045. The book follows teenager Wade Watts as he makes his way on a treasure hunt through the virtual world of the OASIS in his quest to find an egg guaranteed to bring the victor power and wealth.
Spielberg is also executive producer on two major films that are currently in pre-production in the UK: the untitled sequel to Jurassic World and Transformers: The Last Knight.
PI subscribers can log in for more details on both projects; non-subscribers can click here for a live demo during which they will be shown remotely around the site.
