Our Planet set for 48 month shoot
Major new documentary series, Our Planet, is preparing to shoot later this year for Netflix. Silverback Films, the team behind Planet Earth and Frozen Planet, is currently prepping for the mammoth 48 month shoot.
The eight-part series will follow the team around some of the world's never-before-filmed areas, from deserts to frozen tundras. The producers have stated that this will be the largest project of its kind ever attempted.
The Silverback team became the first group to film in HD for the BBC with hit show Planet Earth. They are set to continue the trend with Our Planet, shooting with 4K cameras.
Alastair Fothergill, executive producer on the show, said: "Our Planet is going to raise the bar for natural history landmarks. We will reveal the most amazing sights on Earth and show them in ways they have never been seen before."

Now working with Leonardo DiCaprio with his first-look deal among many other stars, Netflix is seemingly beginning to amass a noteworthy stockpile of documentaries with Appian Way's film, Virunga, on endangered gorillas in the Congo's Virunga National Park being Oscar-nominated.
Lisa Nishimura, VP of Netflix original documentaries, said: "Netflix is proud to be the global home for perhaps Silverback's most ambitious project to date. The 'Planet' projects have enjoyed great success on Netflix and have helped launch new technologies for viewing at home. We think watching Our Planet fully on-demand in 4K, will be an unforgettable experience for our members."
Further information on the series can be found on Production Intelligence. More updates on the production will be revealed in due course.
